LA Nursery Sales Donated a Tree for Each
Home Run the A’s Recorded Last Season
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Athletics in partnership with LA Nursery Sales of Sunol donated 171 trees to the Fremont Unified School District, one tree for each home run the A’s recorded during the 2007 season. Fremont Unified School District selected nine different types of 15-gallon size trees from LA Nursery Sales, which will be planted at school sites throughout Fremont Unified School District over the next month.
The first of these trees will be planted at John F. Kennedy High School (39999 Blacow Road) on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22 at 10:00 am. A’s President Michael Crowley, Fremont Unified School District Superintendent Doug Gephart and Grounds Supervisor Dan Bolger, John F. Kennedy High School Principal Thomas Hanson along with JFK High School Leadership students and LA Nursery Sales of Sunol founder Lisa Arnold will participate in the planting of the first tree in front of JFK High School.
“The A’s are proud to have the support of fans such as Lisa and David Arnold who use their resources to give back to the community,” stated A’s President Michael Crowley. “This partnership between the A’s, LA Nursery Sales and the Fremont Unified School District proves that working together we can make a positive impact in the Bay Area and Northern California.”
“Lew Wolff and the Oakland A's have once again demonstrated their commitment to the Fremont community and to the Fremont Unified School District through their very generous donation of 171 trees for our schools,” said Fremont Unified School District Superintendent Doug Gephart. “Their donation will improve the environmental quality of Fremont for a lifetime.
